        Places & Faces:        previous stories

Our latest featured artist has many splendid crystals from CrystalEnergyWorks.com.  James Wortman is a creative mastermind, most notably in the field of media entertainment.  He is the founder, writer, producer and one of many participating actors in the Every Now and Then Theatre.  And, these are just a few of his titles and talents.  James has been involved in a spectrum of communications-- from mass media including theatre, radio, TV, film and print-- to interpersonal communications including Navy behavioral trainings, non-verbal communication seminars and crisis intervention counseling.

A strong believer in giving back, James has created or assisted in developing countless fundraising events benefiting leukemia, alzheimers, cancer, heart, the Salvation Army, 911 (raising 90k in a day), and dozens of causes like revamping playgrounds, community housing and neglected and abused children.

Since 1990, as Executive Producer of the Every Now and Then Theatre, James has organized and co-directed multi award winning radio dramas of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” featuring celebrity guest hosts including Jamie Farr, Charlene Tilton, Tim Conway, Stephanie Zimbalist, Barbara Billingsley and Dr. Demento. This copyrighted adaptation has been broadcast on various radio stations, on the worldwide web and experienced on stage and in group settings.

“What keeps our Scrooge radio dramas special,” said James, “is how we cast and how we perform.  We select about one-third new people each year.  Participants are a unique mix of top actors, community notables, students and teachers.  To keep things challenging and exciting, cast and crew are allowed only one rehearsal, then perform.  Through military base contacts, we get the show to our armed forces personnel abroad on land and ships at sea—a piece of home for the holidays.   Broadcast copies are donated to a sight impaired library and CDs are sold to cast and crew with proceeds presented to a children’s charity.  The project puts the heart in the holidays for me.”

Since entering competitions in 2003, the Every Now and Then Theatre’s ‘Carol productions have won eight top honors.  They include two International Communicator “Crystal of Excellence” Awards and two International OMNI Intermedia Awards, all for radio entertainment and best local broadcast; an International AXIEM Award for “Absolute Excellence in Electronic Media” and three National Silver Microphone Awards for radio entertainment.  Keeping everyone’s ego in check, James loves to say, “All that and a dollar ten will get one of us coffee at Carrows.”

Taking his creativity a step further, the Every Now and Then Theatre Dickens’ ‘Carol radio drama has been made into a “how-to-do your-own” show kit aimed at radio stations, theatre groups and community organizations.  The first international sale came within weeks after launching the theatre’s webpage.  The copyrighted adaptation, developed with friend Linda Stiegler, has an ear toward broadcast, an eye toward stage and a feel for community.  The easy-to-follow show kit is available at low cost, perhaps perfect for a group you know.  And now two Halloween shows are in the works.  Read more about the Every Now and Then Theatre’s radio dramas or to purchase your own kit here.

CrystalEnergyWorks.com is also spotlighting James in our “Crystals at Work” feature.  James has received many crystals over the years from CrystalEnergyWorks.com and has a story to tell about them.  Read his testimonial here.

    Featured Energy Destination:

Recently CrystalEnergyWorks donated our magnificent "Heaven" geode for the silent auction at "The Ventura County's Hurricane Relief Chef's Benefit" in Ventura County, California. Some of the most outstanding Chef's from the finest restaurants in the County gathered to present the event that was held at Jonathan's at Peirano's Restaurant in the historical district in the City of Ventura.

Owner's of Jonathan's, Chef Jason Collis and wife Joselyn, did a fabulous job of hosting the event. It was an entire afternoon event with spectacular and delicious food, silent auction, and several music groups, including the Cabana Boyz on different stages within the restaurant and patios. Tedean of CrystalEnergyWorks.com attended and is pictured with friends, Chef's Gael Lecolley & Jeff Boullian of Sheila's Place Wine Bar and Cafe in Camarillo, California. You can read more about Jeff Bouillion who was featured on CrystalEnergyWorks.com several months ago. Jeff is previously from New Orleans before moving to California, and he and his family, who were still living there, were directly impacted by Hurricane Katrina. The Funds raised by the event went to the American Red Cross and the United Way Katrina Relief.

CrystalEnergyWorks.com was delighted our "Heaven" geode went to young Sasha Poirier, Daughter of Didier Poirier of 71Palm Restuarant in Ventura . She is pictured with her father and brother, Sam, who also participated in the cooking with his father.
